New England’s 24-hour Vax-A-Thon’s Trinity Health got it halfway through, handing out 4,000 doses during the ongoing COVID-19 vaccination clinic.

The Vax-A-Thon event that started at 5pm. Friday took place at the Artists Collective building on Hartford’s Albany Avenue.

The 24-hour event is aimed at residents aged 16 and over. However, anyone under the age of 18 must have the consent of a legal guardian or parent. Johnson & Johnson vaccines will be given in addition to some Pfizer vaccines at today’s event.

Even before the doors opened, people were lined up and the lines stayed steady all night, stretching around the building outside.

“We should have done this a long time ago,” said Dr. Reggy Eadie, President and CEO of Trinity Health of New England.

“It actually sounds pretty cool. It sounds like a party, a vaccination party, ”said Alisha Saxon from Waterbury.

It’s a party with a lot of shots: 4,000 COVID-19 vaccinations. Johnson & Johnson and some Pfizer vaccinations are given continuously until 5:00 p.m. Saturday.

The organizers are assuming that 200 people per hour will be driven through until it closes on Saturday.
